The ADVOCIS is a modern mic amp with a fresh design that hints to what's lurking inside.

ADVOCIS accentuates the voice and provides a transparency that gives the listener a picture of unequivocal presence. The clever design and extremely high dynamic range guarantees clarity and brilliance even when pushing the signal to its limits. A mic pre should be either completely authentic and natural sounding, or colourful with a unique character of its own. The ADVOCIS combines both features. Two independent signal paths, one bipolar transistor stage and one discreet field effect transistor stage, create a variety of tonal characteristics. The bipolar stage sounds very precise and direct whilst the FET stage delivers a softer and warmer characteristic. The continuously variable "Character" control allows blending between these two stages. This feature allows numerous variations of sound characteristics for a wide range of applications. The layout of the ADVOCIS is based on the classic principle. An infinitely variable low-cut filter (20Hz to 200Hz), phase reverse and a 48v phantom power switch. Gain is switched through relays in 3dB steps. The "Trim" pot fine-tunes the gain variable between +/-6dB. The switches are made from white, illuminated RAFI Switches which have a 100000 cycle lifespan. ALPS potentiometers and the ELMA relays switch guarantee a very high lifespan and reliability. A fully shielded torroidal transformer and custom made output transformers provide the final touches.

 

This high-end product was developed in co-operation with Bernhard Imsande, known for his involvement in electronic development for Neumann and Sony, and is built by hand in Germany.
